Day 9 May 2, 2006
Read: Psalm 32
Reflect on: My greatest heroine I think is Corrie ten Boom. With all the horrible things she faced, yet she showed dogged and bold courage, stepping forward to do whatever needed to be done, no matter how difficult. Oh, for courage like hers! In Psalm 32:7 it is stated: “Thou art my hiding place; Thou dost preserve me from trouble.” Of course as she claimed that verse, she didn’t cower and hide from things. Inwardly, that “hiding place” gave her the security she desperately needed so that she could step out with courage and boldness. She trusted in her Heavenly Father to protect and deliver her, and He never failed her. Another precious promise is the next verse where He says: “I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you” (watch over you - NIV). That’s what I desire, but I must remain teachable, and seek His ways. Courage, boldness, security, counsel - the bottom line is in verse 10: “... he who trusts in the Lord, lovingkindness shall surround him.”
Adoration: He has promised to guide as we trust Him, and He even gives us joy!
Confession: Any fearfulness or distrust that keeps us from stepping forward.
Thanksgiving: For His faithfulness to His promises.
Supplication: By His Spirit to keep my eyes focused on Him and His Word, and to trust.
Lord, I desire to be upright in my heart, that I may please You and live for You. Help me to hide Your Word in my heart, that I may not sin against You. In Jesus' name, for His
sake.
