Day 37 May 30, 2006 Day Six—Ten Days of Constant Prayer
Read: Psalm 29
Reflection: This Psalm of David starts out strong and builds in a mighty crescendo of praise to the glory and majesty and strength of our God. As a powerful storm comes upon us we are quickly made aware of a force much greater than us. So the Psalmist calls us to attribute to God “the glory due His name” as a reflection of the power we see in a great thunderstorm. Such an insight calls us to “worship the Lord in holy array (or the majesty or splendor of holiness)” inverse 2. We need to be clothed properly to approach the almighty King of creation. The appropriate attire is holiness, and there is only One who is perfect in that regard. We must “put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts.” (Romans 13:14)
“The voice of the Lord…thunders…is powerful…is majestic…breaks the cedars…hews out flames of fire…shakes the wilderness…makes the deer to calve and strips the forests bare.” (verses 3-9) Wow, what awesome power! Do we listen and do what He says? Is it any wonder that “in His temple everything says, ‘Glory!’” Do I glorify the Lord with everything in my temple—my body, soul, and spirit? “Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.” (1 Corinthians 6:19,20)
The promises of the Lord are precious: “The Lord will give strength to His people; the Lord will bless His people with peace.” (verse 11) Do I reflect these blessings to God in praise and thanksgiving?
Adoration: How great and powerful You are! Your word is awesome and effective.
Confession: Forgive me for ever taking You for granted or Your word lightly.
Thanksgiving: Thank You, Jesus, for paying the price to purchase me. Thank You, Holy Spirit, for living in me.
Supplication: Lord God Almighty, help me always live in Your holiness, that my thoughts, words and actions all will give You glory.

Prayer Focus for Constant Prayer: The Coming Generation—For God’s purpose for families and children. “For the promise is for you and your children…” Acts 2: 39
For His Church—For marriages and homes to be strengthened by Christ; for children and youth to follow Christ early in life, serving Him with extreme devotion; that young leaders would be recognized and released to lead the church to grow in multiplying ways (Acts 6: 3-7).
For Our World—For God to send educators to the 120 million children worldwide who lack access to education; for God to use His people to extend His fatherly love to millions of children orphaned by wars and the HIV/AIDS epidemic. At the current rate of infection 25 million children will lose their parents to AIDS in the next four years; for God to empower the coming generation to fulfill His promises throughout the earth.
