Day 34 May 27, 2006 Day Three—Ten Days of Constant Prayer
Read: Psalm 27
Reflection: There is a story in the book of Luke about a woman whose husband died tragically after seven years of marriage. Through her loneliness and sorrow, she found a place of joy and comfort to dwell in the rest of her life. As she served the Lord and others with gladness, she grew in the knowledge and belief that one day there would be a Messiah. This eighty-four year old woman, Anna, was rewarded for her faithfulness and patience when Joseph and Mary brought the infant Jesus to be blessed.
Anna’s life illustrates the declaration of faith the psalmist eloquently describes in Psalm twenty-seven. During Anna’s day, neither the temple nor people associated with it were perfect. Do you remember the Pharisees? Yet Anna chose to believe and express that the beauty and goodness of the Lord could be found in His house.
Adoration: Jesus, Your house is filled with Your beauty and goodness.
Confession: Jesus, forgive me for my ungrateful attitude toward Your house, the church.
Thanksgiving: Jesus, I thank You for the privilege I have to seek refuge in Your house. I thank You that You have created a place for me to serve You and others freely. I thank You for the beauty and goodness I have seen and will see in the church.
Supplication: Jesus, increase my desire and commitment to Your house and people.
Prayer for the Church: Jesus, thank You that as I wait, You strengthen my heart.
Lord, I believe as I dwell in Your house I will see Your goodness in the land of the living, Amen

“‘In the last days,’ God says, ‘I will pour out My Spirit on all people…’” (Acts 2:17)
For His Church
For the Spirit of God to come upon Christians in powerful, life-giving ways.
For the Church to be empowered by His Spirit to be Christ’s witnessing servants in the world.
For Our World
That the Spirit of God would awaken people throughout our community and nation to hear His voice and to see His works.
That once again, God would pour out from heaven that which everyone can “see and hear”
(Acts 2: 33).
