Day 33    May 26, 2006               Day Two—Ten Days of Constant Prayer

Read:  Psalm 44

Reflection: There are times in life when I wonder why God seems so silent. I look back at the past and remember all those times He rescued me and saved me from adversaries. So why does it seem like He is hiding His face from me now? Could it be part of His ongoing discipline? Could it be to test how serious I am when I say, "Lord, I trust in You."?

Adoration: I boast in the Lord and I will give Him my thanks even when things don't seem to be going well for me.

Confession: There are times I feel really inadequate and I'm not surprised that I am tempted to think that God is asleep and doesn't remember His promises to me. And those are also the times I tend to take credit for past successes and forget that it is God who saves me.

Thanksgiving: I thank God that no matter how depressed and rejected I feel at times, He has not forgotten me. He keeps His covenant and He has His reasons for His perceived silence. I am thankful I can trust Him even when I'm wondering where He is right now.

Supplication: As the sons of Korah said, Lord, please rise up, be my help, and redeem me because of Your loving-kindness.

Prayer:
Oh God,
There are times I don't know how to think about Your mysterious ways. Sometimes You seem so close to me and other times it feels like I don't know where You are or what You are doing. Please help me, through Your Holy Spirit, to remember the promises You have made in Your covenant through Jesus my Lord. Help me to see the small everyday ways You confirm Your loving-kindness even in those times when my soul has sunk down into the dust. Let me know that You have not rejected me, but in the end You will save me. In Christ's Name, Amen

Prayer Focus for Constant Prayer: United Prayer - For sustained movements of united prayer:  “These all with one mind were continually devoting themselves to prayer.” Acts 1:14.

For His Church—That God’s Spirit would give us a spirit of expectant intercession, compassion and hope to pray persistently for promises of His kingdom to be fulfilled; that God would unite us in prayer with  “one mind” empowering us to pray together with passion for Christ’s glory and compassion for the world.

For Our World-- That people throughout our communities would be moved to call out to God for His help as never before; that the leaders of our community would look to God for His help in prayer; and that God would be glorified by the praises of the poor, the young, and the marginalized as He answers their prayers.
