Day 32   May 25, 2006                         Day One—Ten Days of Constant Prayer

Read:  Psalm 132

Reflection:  How determined David was to provide “a place for the Lord, a dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob” (1-5).  Do I have the same kind of determination to see that the Lord, who we know “does not dwell in temples made with hands” (Acts 17:24), has a clean and open heart in me in which to dwell?  Do I continually provide a “resting place” where God is at home and pleased to dwell?  To “worship at His footstool” speaks of humility of place and posture before Almighty God.  “Thus says the Lord, ‘Heaven is My throne and the earth is My footstool.  Where then is a house you can build for Me? And where is a place that I may rest?  For My hand made all these things, thus all these things came into being,’ declares the Lord.  ‘But to this one I will look, to him who is humble and contrite of spirit, and who trembles at My word’” (Isaiah 66:1,2 ).  Am I “clothed with righteousness,” not of my own, but “that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith” (Philippians 3:9)?  “And  let Your godly ones sing for joy.” (9)  Is my life characterized by joyful singing to the Lord?

Adoration:  I praise You God Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, for You are high above everything, holy and righteous, and worthy of all glory and honor.

Confession:  Forgive me for not providing a resting place where You would always be pleased to dwell.  Cleanse me from all that is unrighteous and unworthy of a place for You to be at home in at all times, not just times of my own choosing.

Thanksgiving:  I thank You Lord that You would be pleased to dwell in me.  Thank You for the precious gift of Your righteousness that clothes me.

Supplication:  Lord God, my heavenly Father, teach me Your ways for they are clearly not the ways of the earth.  How marvelous it is to know that You would choose to dwell in me and be pleased to do so.  May I always be determined like David to provide a home in my heart that is clean and holy, and a reflection of Your love to those around me.

Prayer:  Heavenly Father, how awesome You are.  Come dwell in us in the power of Your Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead that Your glory may fill all the earth. Through the name of the Mighty One, Jesus Christ our Lord, we pray.  Amen.

Prayer Focus of Constant Prayer: The Kingdom of Christ—for the transforming power of Christ’s kingdom: “…and speaking of the things concerning the kingdom of God.  Gathering them together, He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for what the Father had promised, ‘Which,’ He said, ‘you heard of from Me…’” Acts 1:3-4.

For His Church—For our hearts to blaze with love and loyalty to Christ as King and Lord of all; to be moved in hope so that we actively pursue all that He has promised; that however God’s people may have been scattered and divided, we would be gathered together by Christ to obey Him.

For Our World -- For Christ to position believers in places where breakthroughs of blessing have not yet happened, pray that they would patiently pursue God’s promise of the blessing of His kingdom in those difficult places; for the goodness and glory of Christ’s kingly love to be experienced by the masses in our cities, bringing lasting transformation throughout entire communities.
