Day 15   May 8, 2006

Read:  Psalm 145

Reflection:
My first thought after reading this psalm is, “How great is our God, and how wonderful it is to praise Him.” The psalmist David pulls you into a personal acknowledgment of how great God is when he says, “Everyday I will bless you,” and “I will praise your name forever and ever.” The psalm takes you to the place where all God’s works will praise Him.
Secondly, the psalm really talks about the attributes of God with insights into His character.
Thirdly, we get a description of God’s people and how they glorify the Lord by not only praising Him, but also proclaiming His glorious majesty and might to the next generation.

Adoration: In verse 8 and 9 the psalm tells us that God is gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger, and good to all. We can praise Him for His compassion, His goodness towards all and His mercies over all His works. What this is saying to me is that God is not quick to judge, and He really wants to bless His creation!

Confession: In many ways we fall short in our ability to acknowledge the Lord in all our ways and give Him honor every day.

Thanksgiving: In verse 14 we see that we can thank the Lord because He lifts up all who fall and are bowed down. We can thank Him for always encouraging us when we turn to Him. In Him we find strength and help. Thank Him for all His provision.

Supplication: Focus on who God is: His graciousness, His kindness, His love, His compassion, His mercies, and enter into a personal acknowledgment of God’s help and His ability to lift us up.

Dear Lord, our heavenly Father, we just come to You and confess our utter dependence upon You. We ask You to help us acknowledge You in all of our ways and praise You with all that is within us, every day. You are awesome, and we pray for Your mercy, kindness, compassion, goodness and righteousness to flow through us. May You be praised for Your majesty and the glory of Your kingdom to come. We know that You are near to all who call on You, so we ask You to help us walk in Your presence every day and glorify You in all our ways. In Jesus Name, Amen
