Tillamook County Joins with the World

Celebrating the Global Day of Prayer
On Pentecost Sunday June 4th, 2006
2:30-5:30 p.m. at the Tillamook County Fair Grounds in Tillamook, Oregon

The Churches are calling all believers to come and pray:
The Churches in Tillamook County are coming together in an unprecedented way this year to celebrate the Global Day of Prayer. It is the desire of many Christian in our county to join together on Pentecost Sunday as did the first Christians on this day.
“When the day of Pentecost came they were all together in one place” (Acts 2:1)
On Pentecost, many millions of Christians will again be all together-but in many places. We’ll join together in prayers of blessing for the nations, praying in one accord for the biblical hope of Christ’s greater glory and the transformation of all nations.

It all began in Africa just five years ago….
This prayer movement began in Africa, in 2001 a small band of believers gathered in Cape Town, South Africa, pouring out their hearts to God for their nations. A stadium full of 45,000 expectant people were joined together to seek God in repentance. God gave them a vision for a prayer movement that would soon sweep the continent of Africa. One year later that single gathering had expanded to eight stadiums with 350,000 people. The following year the movement jumped to a staggering 2.5 million gathered in 130 stadiums. In 2004, the movement multiplied ten-fold, swelling to 22 million people gathered in more than 2000 sites in every one of the 56 countries of Africa. That same year Africa invited the rest of the world to join them in the first Global Day of Prayer, which was celebrated in 156 nations of the world with an estimated 200 million plus people joining in prayer on May 15, 2005.

This event marked the greatest Christian prayer mobilization in the world.

The verse they have chosen for this event is
“So that the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord” (Hab.2:14)

The organizers of the event in Africa have asked everyone that is a part of the Global Day of Prayer to pray seven prayers that will be prayed around the world. “They lifted their voices to God with one accord” (Acts 4:24).  These prayers will be prayed by Tillamook area pastors with a congregational response.

When and Where:
On June 4th from 2:30pm until 5:30pm the Global Day of Prayer will be held at the Tillamook County Fair Grounds at 4603 3rd Street, in Tillamook, Oregon. The day will an exciting time as we join together in worship and prayer for our county, state, nation and the world. Our location will seat 2,500 people and we are hoping to see the place filled to capacity, so please join us.
